(b. Havana, Cuba, 1944). María Eugenia Haya (Marucha) studied at the Cuban Cinema Institute and Havana University. She was a photographer, historian, and lecturer, and the founding director of the Fototeca de Cuba until her death in 1991. Her photographs have been shown in more than forty national and international venues, and have been collected by such institutions as Cuba’s Biblioteca National José Martí, the Mexican National Museum, and the Centre Nacional de la Photographie de Paris.
