(b. Havana, Cuba, 1953). Gory specialized in painting at the National School of Art in Cubanacan, and went on to earn a degree in the History of Art from Havana University in 1978. He participated in Havana’s Volumen I exhibition in 1981, at which point he turned his concentration from hyperrealist painting to photography and photomontage. He became a photographer for the Ministry of Culture and his photographs have won numerous awards, including the Tina Modotti prize at the first Havana biennial in 1984. Gory’s work has been exhibited internationally. He lives and works in Miami.
