(b. Nova Friburgo, Brazil, 1929). Pape is recognized for her printmaking as well as her involvement with the Brazilian Ferente Group whose artistic philosophy embraced geometric abstraction as opposed to figurative art. She became involved with the Frente Group by the time she was twenty years old and began exhibiting with the group in 1954. Her prints were included in the first national Concrete Art exhibition for which she was awarded second prize for printmaking. Due to her involvement in the exhibition she signed the "Manifesto Concreto". In her best known series of prints known as "tecelares", Pape developed her signature style of dynamic geometric forms. Throughout her career she has explored numerous art forms in addition to printmaking including choreography, writing, and film.
