(b. Santiago, Chile, 1947).
He attended the Escuela de Bellas Artes in the Universidad de Chile between 1965-1969. Since 1969, he has taught at the Escuela de Bellas Artes, Universidad Catolica, and the Instituto de Arte Contemporaneo. In 1980 he received a grant to study in Italy for a year and in 1987 he was awarded the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. His art is conceptual, often placing the meaning and the criticism of his art on the viewer; therefore, making it political in politically charged times, but also subtle enough to be critical of the government without being too obvious. He creates elaborate installations which questions popular Chilean myths and uses found objects, re-appropiated ads, plays on words, and Chilean history. These installations create a context which questions all of the objects; their uses and meaning, making the viewer rethink what they know about what is familiar to them. His work includes familiar consumer products as well
