(b. Concepción, Paraguay, 1937).
Like other Paraguayan artists of the '60s, Colombino struggled to unify national concerns with international artistic ideals. His kinetic polychromed wood sculptures support human rights and challenge Paraguay's oppressive dictatorships. Colombino's sculpture Pasión y simulacro (Passion and Simulacrum) of 1993 suggests a crucifix. As evidenced by the date of this work, Colombino has produced original work from the '60s into the post-dictatorship era of the '90s. He won first place en the Quito Biennial of 1968 and taught xylography at the University of Costa Rica during the '80s.
