Public Order on view at Art Museum of the Americas
by Cynthia MacMullin

Often, Sacco mounts her photographic / heliographic works in the public arena, on billboards, fences etc, to interface with the public in local streets, construction sites, public buildings, schools, and parks to broaden public and social awareness of these issues. Graciela Sacco elaborates, "My observation of urban spaces infused with commercial graphics led me to recognize the existence of a visual colonization that encompasses the manipulation of mass media. I became aware that various forms of communication displayed in the streets such as billboards, signage, fences, etc., interact daily with the citizens". Sacco’s art aligns with a movement and tradition of other women artists who have explored the intervention of art in public spaces, such as American artists Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger and Brazilian artist, Regina Silveira.

Graciella Sacco is exclusively represented by World House Gallery.
