Bettina Buck’s work lies at the crossroad between sculpture, painting and performance. With Headless, flat rectangular sheets of foam are transformed into uncanny figures that confront the viewer. Buck tackles the tension between the perfect form of a triangle and the imperfection of the material used. Punctuating the exhibition space, the sculptures may be seen either as an abstract form or as a strange figure slithering into the room: a headless unknown figure appears and breaks into the space as a disturbing presence.
