artwork Paraísos Paralelos Tokyo, 2006 / Quito, 2007 Manuel Saiz Spain Video Photo Manuel Saiz The two videos presented by Manuel Saiz were filmed during residencies: one, in Japan and the second in Ecuador, for this project. In both the artist describes an incongruity: two worlds that exist in the same space, but never coincide. In Paraísos Paralelos: Tokio two Japanese dancers perform their perfectly synchronized movements in a forest. In the second video, the camera follows the curious interaction of a llama in a supermaket. In these two works the artist explores the irreconcilability of the system of codes versus the logics of nature. back to art issue
