(b. Mexico City, 1970; Amorales currently lives and works in Mexico City and Amsterdam, the Netherlands).
He studied in Amsterdam at both the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten. Amorales' work investigates the construction and movement of identities across cultural and social spaces. His recent work has engaged the popular wrestling world of Mexico. Drawn to the central role that masks and fictional identities play within this environment, the artist has created a wrestling persona for himself called "Amorales." The artist¹s work uses a wrestling mask that is a visual interpretation of the artist¹s face, as articulated by Ray Rosas, a mask-maker and former wrestler enlisted by Amorales to help acclimate him to wrestling culture.
