The work can be read at different levels and where different cultural practices meet: the European tradition of recycling pieces of cloth to make a quilt or blanket; and in Ecuador the common practice of throwing roses during religious celebrations. The nature of these acts is seen in an extremely delicate and fragile piece which elicits sensorial emotions. Enclosed in crystal, it poses as an object the Museum’s permanent collection for it shares the patterns and colours of the prie-dieux carpeting and repeats the horizontal length of the carpet of the Cathedral’s high altar.
